When abuse is physical, the evidence is visual, seen with the naked eye.
When abuse is verbal, financial and manipulative, the evidence is invisible, deep inside oneself.
Hidden inside by the forced smiles, private tears and false tales of a good life.
There are no ER visits to treat the unseen damage on the human soul like a battered body or broken bones. Ashamed for what you've portrayed vs endured mixed with guilt for the secrets kept.
Yet, healing will come from finding the courage to share the truth and your story, to help free the pain that is still hidden inside.
